THIS DAY IN BASEBALL HISTORY.....

This day in baseball history, Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier, taking his first at bat with the 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers. On June 20th of that same year, the Dodgers played an exhibition game at Danville Stadium, beating the farm team Danville Dodgers 14-7.

A standing room only crowd of 6,052 watched Robinson on the field with other luminaries like Pee Wee Reese, Duck Snider, Eddie Stanky and Gil Hodges. Stanky and Snider each cracked home runs.
